Exceptional Maternity Care, Trusted by Families — and a Professional Football Star
Choosing where to have your baby is one of the most important decisions you’ll make—and at The Christ Hospital, we’re honored to be part of that journey for so many families. We’re excited to share the story of professional football player Ted Karras and his wife, Rachel —who chose to welcome their newest addition at The Christ Hospital. Their experience reflects everything we strive to offer: exceptional, personalized care in a safe, supportive, and memorable environment.

Level III Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU)

The Level III Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at our Mt. Auburn Birthing Center provides exceptional care for our tiniest patients, all while keeping families nearby in a nurturing environment.

Our NICU was designed by our physicians and nurses to care for newborns with greater needs in an efficient, supportive environment. Individual rooms allow parents to stay close to their babies with more privacy. There are dedicated rooms for twins and other multiples to stay close together.

The NICU incorporates the latest technology to recreate a womb-like experience for these little newborns.

  • Sensors adjust the lighting to match natural dawn to dusk patterns, so babies develop healthy sleep and wake cycles.
  • Cribs have humidity and temperature controls for proper skin development.
  • Acoustical flooring even cushions the sound of footsteps to reduce noise levels.

And when it’s time for baby (or babies!) to graduate from the NICU, parents can spend the night in a private transition room so they can practice home care side-by-side with our nurses and get all those last-minute questions answered.
